Summer Frost

This was an interesting novella and the first time I have encountered Roko’s Basilisk in literature. This book reminded me of a few other stories, which it no doubt, took inspiration from. The ones that come to my mind are:

• I, Robot by Issac Asimov
• The movie Ex Machina
• Simulacron-3 by Daniel F. Galouye – and the movie based on it, The Thirteenth Floor.
• Infinite by Jeremy Robinson

The concept of Roko’s Basilisk is also almost Lovecraftian in a way. Replace the simulated personality trapped in a simulation created by an artificial super intelligence with someone being trapped in a never ending dream by an ancient being.
